Statewide Learning Management System

The Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) is the first enterprise-wide initiative in New York State to manage, deliver, and track training for all state employees. SLMS also helps administer and track training that agencies provide to external learners.

As a New York State employee, SLMS is your key to learning and professional development opportunities. SLMS provides access to learning opportunities for classroom, online, and other types of learning. You can access these opportunities simply by searching the catalog and registering. You will then have a record of classes which you have registered for and completed, all in one place and available anywhere you can connect to the internet.

Searching for learning in SLMS is quite simple. The easiest way to search for learning in SLMS is to click the Search buttons at the top or center-bottom of the home screen:

SLMS Home Screen

Searching this way will show you all the learning (courses, classes, and programs) available to you in the SLMS. You can narrow your search results by selecting one or more categories to the left of the screen. You can also enter search terms (e.g. engineering, Spanish, communication skills) into the search box.

SLMS Filters
To find learning that is being offered soon, use the Upcoming Events filter.

If you see an Enroll button next to a class in the SLMS catalog (see image below), this means you can request enrollment in the training.

SLMS Enroll button

To request enrollment, click the Enroll button and follow the steps. For all PSWP workshops, supervisory approval is required before you are reserved a place on the roster.

Once the supervisor assigned to you in SLMS approves your enrollment request, you will be moved into the workshop and approved to attend space permitting. PSWP enrollment is processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

If the workshop you are interested in is full at the time of your enrollment, we encourage you to register so that you can be placed on the waitlist. If seats become available, those from the waitlist are moved in on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, waitlisted registrants are given early notification when additional offerings are scheduled.

The SLMS contains records of training you have taken in the past as well as training you plan to take. This is called My Learning History. To access your Learning History, log in to the SLMS and click the My Learning link on the homepage.

SLMS MY Learning

From the My Learning page, you can view your completed or planned classes, drop enrollments, and print certificates. If you don't see all the learning you think you should, try changing the filters.
